Kathleen LaVaune Miller (Kerns)
Kathleen LaVaune Miller, age 92, passed away on Nov 11, 2016, at Piqua Manor. Kathleen was an intelligent woman with varied interests, among them music, travel and vacations with family. Her independent spirit will be remembered by those she touched.
Born in 1924 in Kenton, Ohio, to William and Lydia (Gray) Kerns, Kathleen attended Ohio Northern University. After receiving her teaching certificate, she taught for many years at Kenton’s Espy Elementary and in the Ridgemont Local School District.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, brother Carroll Kerns, and husbands Robert Anderson, Leo Hurley and Rusty Miller. She is survived by five sons and their spouses – Robert Edwin and Janice Anderson of Ohio, Richard Lee and Marsha Anderson of Oregon, Ronald William Anderson and Robb Sloan of Ohio, Michael Joe and Linda Anderson of Ohio, and James Anderson and John Kelley of Washington, DC; as well as nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her extended Hurley and Miller families, who enriched her life immensely.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov 14, 2016, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S Main Street, Lakeview, Ohio. A brief funeral service will take place at Shoffstall Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov 15, 2016, followed by interment at Huntsville Cemetery.
Contributions in Kathleen’s memory may be made to Logan County Friendly Senior Center in Bellefontaine.
