Nettie Nolan, 80, of Marion, OH, formerly of Bellefontaine, OH, passed away Wednesday evening, June 22, 2016 while surrounded by her children.
Nettie was born on October 17, 1935 in Wise, VA to the late Martin and Viola Salyers. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard L. She is survived by four children, Diana Adams, Rick (Carla) Nolan, Donna (Aaron) Thompson and Linda Greene, ten grandchildren, Adam (Michelle) Thompson, Jami (David) Ferguson, Ryan (Nicole) Nolan, Andrew (Nicole) Grumbling, Kelly (Mike) Instine, Kara Nolan, Kyle (Brittany) Broxterman, David Thompson Casey Thompson and Angel (Mel Ian) Baker, 18 great grandchildren, Sadie, Mikayla, Raychael, Brooklynn, Isaiah, Lyman, Khierstan, Kahne, Bella, Garrett, Noel, Eli, Ariana, Lincoln, Nora, Logan, Faith and Carson, one sister, Pauline Boatwright and three brothers, Bill (Betty) Salyers, Jim Salyers and Kanoel Salyers, and many nieces and nephews.
Together Nettie and Leonard owned and operated Nolan Tree Service in Huntsville, OH for many years, and she later worked for Nash Finch in Bellefontaine. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed making big holiday meals and would always make her special homemade biscuits and gravy and sausage when someone called. Nettie enjoyed playing bingo, going to a casino and going on a cruise. She also enjoyed gardening, sunny days, and walking on the beach with family and friends. She loved watching her grandchildren play baseball and cheering on the Cincinnati Reds.
Nettie stayed with her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Aaron during the last phase of her life during her illness. She felt total peace there and this helped her handle that terrible disease of cancer that has taken the lives of so many.
